It’s a brooch of a dog pooing! Um, yeah… I *guess* that you could give this to your dog walker as a thank-you gift for all their hard work.

Behaving Badly At The Dog Park

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010 by Karen Friesecke

The weather was pretty nice this weekend! Saturday was sunny and actually above zero degrees, so Jersey and I decided to take a trip to the local dog park. We don’t go there very often since Jersey has many opportunities to run off leash at my Dad’s farm.

What’s New At Doggie Stylish

Sunday, January 24th, 2010 by Karen Friesecke

For the past few months I’ve been showing you how to make various dog leash and collar projects with 550 paracord. Paracord is a really great material to use for leashes and collars. It’s durable, washable and literally lasts forever!

Well, if you’re feeling crafty, you can now buy complete kits for some of the projects that are on my blog! You don’t have to go through the hassle of shopping at different stores for project materials and I have even preshrunk the paracord so that you can start braiding right away!

Jersey and I Enjoying a Day At Wasaga Beach

Jersey and I Enjoying a Day At Wasaga Beach

Jersey and I go everywhere. When I say everywhere, I mean *everywhere*. Anytime I run an errand, she’s in the truck. Friends houses, when we visit the in-laws, whatever. I will also take her into a lot of the shops that I visit. It’s been good for her, she gets exposed to a variety of people and situations and it makes her a better socialized dog. Jersey’s been in Staples, Michaels, The Home Depot, pretty much anyplace that doesn’t sell food or have a no dogs allowed sign on the door. Unlike her Mom, Jersey is really, really, really ridiculously good looking so most people want to approach her and pet her. She is usually very well received with most of the store staff fawning over her. I’ve never been kicked out of a store, until a few weeks ago and it really got me steamed.

Now don’t go getting you panties all in a bunch! This isn’t Jersey NOW, this WAS jersey two years ago. In May of 2007  Jersey was hit by a car and as a result, her front right leg was broken. The experience was more than tramautic and it was only intensified by the fact that I was not in my hometown, close to my vet. I won’t involve you an all the sordid details, but an employee of the business I was visiting delivered the injured Jersey and I to her vet, where they treated total strangers like royalty and gave Jersey top-notch care!  If you live in the Niagara Region of Ontario and need a vet, consider the Martindale Animal Clinic. The staff there are wonderful and they really are all about the animals. I walked in a total stranger with an injured dog and they didn’t even ask for a deposit for jersey’s care.

Dog bandannas are an easy way to dress up your dog. Regular bandannas that you tie with a knot can present a choking hazard to dogs if they get caught on something. This tutorial will demonstrate how to make a dog bandanna that slides over your dog’s collar, which is safer for your pet.
