That’s Damn Interesting! Lovely Links 02-28-2013

An excellent post on dog conformation. What is a “sound” dog?

Check out this *very* cool website! Films For Action has 500 social change documentaries on a single page, all free to watch online. I’ll be going back many times. I want to watch the Koch Brothers doc when I have a minute.

It does not surprise me at all that labs topped the poison list. From the things I have heard, there is nothing those dogs don’t get into. Interesting that the stories match the data.

Thanks for more great links! I have a lot of reading to do now.

Great list of links this week. Had to read up on the poisons one – thank god Daisy is not a typical Lab!. My cat Nick suffers from osteoarthritis, but at 19 I supposed that is to be expected.

Interesting data on the drug-sniffing dogs. I have often wondered how many handlers pass up a “find” by the dog because they didn’t read their cues properly. I think it takes a lot of time to completely trust a dog so that you will follow where they lead, ut if only 44% accurate, one has to wonder.

The Films for Action site looks awesome. I would love to see the Koch brothers one too. They are a seedy bunch.

Or maybe how many dog handlers cued their dog to signal contraband was found just because they didn’t like the suspect. It’s something to think about.
